Enrollment Information
In order to achieve optimum results, it is important to maintain consistent attendence. Maintaining consistency will help your child complete his or her program more effectively and efficiently. If you have given permission for your child to do homework during his or her sessions, their 48 session goals may be affected.
Communicating With You
Our goal is to give each student the best learning experience possible and to fulfill your expectations. To make this happen, we need to coordinate our efforts to help your child finish his/her program in a timely manner. The hours we have prescribed to complete your child's program are only an estimate of what may be required. Your child may need more hours than initially prescribed based on consistency of attendance, learning style, participation, learning difficulties (e.g., ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, etc.), or other factors. While we have been successful with thousands of students, we cannot guarantee success. However, with your support and your child's consistent participation, the likelihood of success is great.
Communicating With Your Child's School
In addition to working with your child at California Learning Center, with your signed permission, we make a point of visiting your child's teachers. We will discuss your child's strengths and weaknesses, determined from the evaluation and conversations with you, and discuss your child's program with the teacher. We will also have the opportunity to learn more about your child's programs in school. This is a service that we provide to you without charge.
Individualized Instruction
Depending on your child's needs, we offer individualized instruction, which is one student with one teacher at a pace geared to your child's educational level. We also offer standardized instruction with a maximum student-teacher ratio of three students to one teacher. This allows for individual attention while fostering independence, which will allow your child to transfer newly acquired skills into a regular classroom setting.
Conferences
We schedule frequent conferences to discuss progress or the results of progress testing. We encourage both parents or guardians to attend these conferences. In addition to routine conferences, if you have any concerns or need to speak with us, please feel free to do so at any time.
Conference Schedule
- 8 session conference - a materials conference, approx. 4 weeks into the program.
- 24 session conference - a progress conference, approx. 12-13 weeks into the program.
- 48 session conference - a progress conference and test results, approx. 24-26 weeks into the program.
Scheduling Absences & Make-Ups
Sessions are scheduled a month in advance. If you need to cancel your child's session, you must do so 24 hours prior or you will incur the regular hourly session fee. In case of a sudden illness or an emergency, please try to notify us before your child's scheduled hour. Make-up sessions are to be scheduled within 30 days of the excused absence. If a make-up is not held within 30 days, then that session will be lost. It may not be deducted from tuition or added on to a block of sessions. Please call during non-instructional hours to schedule these sessions.
