What We Do

Who we are

California Learning Center offers you the opportunity to invest in your child's future. Our programs are taught by experienced teachers, using proven techniques. This enables our students, on average, to advance their skills at least one to one and a half years in only 48 hours of instruction.

How do students learn?

California Learning Center has developed a unique learning system. Students begin by taking a thorough diagnostic evaluation in reading, writing, math, algebra, or study skills. We use the results of the evaluation to set goals and prescribe the appropriate materials for each student. We utilize positive reinforcement and deliberate growth strategies to enable students to meet their goals. The teachers at CLC undergo additional training to learn how to apply the strategies and materials for students' varied needs and learning styles. The Director or Associate Director also meets with the students' classroom teachers and other key individuals (per request) to ensure that skills are being transferred to the school setting.

Each student is evaluated and an individualized program is designed. Children progress at their own rates as they work with a teacher on assignments tailored to meet their specific needs and learning styles. Communication lines are always open. We communicate by phone, email, fax, and scheduled conferences. Progress conferences are held at 8, 24, and 48 sessions. We meet with your child's classroom teachers and other key individuals for no additional charge.

How do we teach?

Our teachers are trained to adapt to individual learning styles and needs. They are friendly, energetic, and committed to students' academic achievements. Students are taught in a positive, nurturing environment by teachers selected for their skills and patience. In addition to one-to-one teaching, students learn by using computer programs, educational materials, activities, and games. They are challenged by individual goals that supplement the school curriculum. The expected student to teacher ratio is no more than 3:1. Students often see friends at CLC. The environment is friendly, supportive, and productive.
